Interesting. Thanks for posting this. I like Oates but I still think it is risk hiring him as head coach when he has no head coaching experience. Obviously I hope he does well and proves all us doubters wrong.
I'll take a guy with NHL assistant coaching experience over yet another AHL head coach. I like the idea of sticking with a guy who was a strong two-way player and team captain.
Would Oates coming in from Jersey give us a shot at Parise?

I haven't seen anything on this, but I'd like to see another "Fan Favorite" come here. I feel like a lot of people had good and bad views on Hunter this season, but the one thing that brought everyone together was the fact that he was DALE HUNTER.
My personal preference for next year, is we start with something new and exciting that the fans and team can respect.
Adam Oates/Steve Konowalchuk...
Both have some minor experience coaching, Kono is currently a head coach in Seattle minors and Oates has done great things with both Tampa and New Jersey.
An Oates/Konowalkchuk pairing I think would be a great start to this team.
Thoughts?

Oh, and Oates NEVER shot the puck. My throat is still sore years later from screaming SHOOT THE PUCK at him! He could have a wide open net with a dead goalie next to it on a penalty shot and he would still think pass.
We'll see. Again.

It helps a little, but I don't think Parise had any interest whatsoever in coming here before this move.
