Heart, Motivation, Win at all cost, I think Dale could get that out of these players. Anyone agree???

Hell yes! But he would probably only keep Hendricks, Bradley, and Erskine. That is not enough for a team.

also one must note that IF Dale was coach and the players ignored him or didn't hustle, he would slash em, punch em and generally get into his patented fracus on their jackwagon.
That's what I know.

interesting....I didn't realise that typing "tush" (more common 3 letter version) would turn into "jackwagon". hmmm, this could be fun.

I bet he would put Mike Green on a Wing and have two defensemen keeping the puck in the opponents zone on our power plays! Someone better be in front of the net and not fancy Nancy passing. Shoot the puck, Gretzky even said if you don't shoot you can not score. Elementary!

Well, I loved Dale Hunter....but when it comes to coaching, who knows?
A players traits, do not necessarily manifest when it comes to coaching...Bryan Trottier for example?
And what woud happen if the Cpas legend arrived, and NOTHING changed? What next, another coach? another clear out?
I would prefer Hunters status of "Caps legend" to remain as it as.....
Because....even if we forget the HUGE salary that these players earn, the fact that they are NHL players should be motivation in itself.
They were the laughing stock of the NHL last spring....shouldnt that motivate them?
Fat headed TV analysists calling them "The CrAPS".....shouldnt that motivate them?
What about those years, not long ago, whe the NHL scribes were saying "noone cares about Hockey in DC, the team should be moved blah, blah.....shouldnt that motivate them?

What about all that claptrap after last season-the players being angry, and bitter about the way it ended, unfinished business etc?
They are playing like a bunch of cry babies, a spoiled rich boys club, un happy with the coaches "stiffling system" (the same coach that the same players flourished under, to get 60 goal/100 point seasons)
They need to "man up"...because if they are that fragile and sensitive, then even if Hunter brought his "playing" style into a "coaching style", do you think any of these softies would react better?

I never rant at this team, as I love them so much, but I am sick and tired of watching them play 20 minutes a night, and finding excuses for them.
Can anyone name a single game this year where they gave 60 minutes?

SURE!! Dale Hunter as head coach. Rod Langway as the defensive Coach. Mike Gartner as the offensive coach. Bonzai as the PP coach. Mark Tinordi as the PK coach.
And, of course, Olie as the Goalie coach. We might as well bring in Ivan Lebre as the GMGM coach. NEXT.........

You may or may not agree with me, but be it resolved.....I'm RIGHT!!!!

I'm not saying I know anything on the topic, but I think Dale comes with Mark. Both very smart hockey men but McPhee is friends with Dale and Mark would want his job. I think George would have to take a presidents roll to get Dale here, but would be the best thing for the organization.

One thing I never understood about this. He has never coached an NHL game in his life. Seems like a big risk to me.

Playing and coaching are two different things (see Wayne Gretzky)

True, but he is a VERY successful coach in the CHL. Too bad he would have to divest from the Knights in order to come here.

See this

I think he would get immediate respect in the locker room for his on and off the ice accomplishments.

Ottowa was headhunting him for a while if I remember correctly.

I keep seeing the statement made that just because someone was a great player doesn't mean they will be a good coach, and I understand that statement. So please correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't most NHL coaches former players, including many who have led their teams to a Stanley cup? I've also heard Dale has been very successful at his present level, hasn't he?

Yes and yes.

But I do think there's a legitimate concern if Hunter would command the same respect from the players the way a proven NHL coach would, although I personally could see Hunter being able to.

These next few weeks should be interesting. The Caps have a ton of tough games ahead versus teams that are in the PO hunt.

Yeah, I mean he has done alot and I really like the guy, especially as a player. But let's not forget Bruce was very accomplished at the AHL level.

The CHL and the NHL are different not only in terms of level of play: The CHL is a development league, the NHL is all pro.

Again, I love the guy, but I think it may be a big risk trying to get him as a coach.

Than again, the bigger the risk, the bigger the reward right? B)

In terms of motivation, we should name this guy to the coaching staff:

I agree, except I am not inclined to find excuses for them. So far this season there is no such game. They've had maybe 40-45 minutes at best, but please don't ask me to name the game, because then I will need to find an excuse for them.
